(More customer reviews)Comcast's new digital adapter: We get up to 2 for free. Any more than that results in a monthly fee per additional digital adapter (1 per tv). I have additional tvs in my workout room, my office, and my guest bedroom, all of which are never on at the same time. Instead of paying comcast every month for 2 additional adapters, I found these beauties by X10.
I have an X10 power mid transmitter in each of the three rooms, and one receiver 2 floors down in the basement, where my centralized cable home run is located. I have my second free digital adapter connected to a 3-way splitter that my 3 tvs' cables attach to. The X10 receiver is aimed at the digital adapter.
Now, using the digital adapter remote, I can change the channel on the digital adapter via the transmitters in any of the three rooms. The transmitter converts the IR signal to RF, which penetrates walls and floors, etc, reaches the receiver 2 floors down, which then transmits the RF signal back to IR, which Comcast's digital adapter receives as if the remote control had sent the signal directly to the adapter.
The range is pretty good. The RF signal from the transmitter is currently going through several walls and floors to get to the receiver. 2 of the three transmitters result in near-instanteneous channel change, while the third, a little farther away experiences a slight (half second?) delay. Pretty minor.
These are pretty small - 4" tall, and 2.75" x 2.75" , so can be placed almost anywhere. And, they look sleek and ultra-modern, so they'll look good with any other AV gear.
If you need extended range, you could probably link them:

These work great, I love them, and keeping Comcast from benefiting at my expense is a huge bonus! These will pay for themselves in a little less than a year...
On that note: For those of you that rent your cable modems from Comcast: Buy your own instead. They also pay for themselves in a little under a year.
