(More customer reviews)I got this remote for use with a Windows 7 PC attached to a 40" 1080p LCD tv. The PC is used as a media center solution with this TV to display movies, internet video, electronically stored tv and movies and streaming content on the TV as an alternative to a cable TV subscription.
As expected, the remote works appropriately with Windows Media Center, Boxee and XBMC. However,the IR USB received included with this remote, which is how this remote communicates with the PC, is a little unusual. If you place this receiver on the same surface your TV stands on, it actually works better if you flip the IR receiver over so it rests upside down. In fact, testing the remote with the IR receiver inverted while mounted to the top of the television and when placed on top of the PC stored below the TV also indicated that mounting the IR received in these two positions upside down resulted in better performance.
As for the remote itself, it is about half the size I expected it to be. It is too small for comfortable use in my opinion however, it functions as expected when the IR receiver is mounted upside down. If the IR receiver is not mounted upside down, you may have trouble with it detecting the remote's signal unless you aim it close to the receiver - meaning essentially it's about as sensitive as IR receivers on TV's sold in the 1980's.
The buttons on the remote are uncomfortable to use due to the small size of the remote. If I wasn't a full grown man, I may not have this issue. In fact, female friends of mine with lithe hands do not share this complaint.
Overall, I'm rating this remote as 3-stars because it does actually work. If the remote was twice the size and the IR receiver better designed, I would have rated this remote as 4 stars.
