(More customer reviews)I kind of stepped out of my comfort level with this, but for the price, thought I can't go wrong... I mean you get 8 IR transmitter bulbs and comes with everything you need to control your devices that are hidden behind a cabinet. I have purchased several other more expensive repeaters, this works just as good. My only caution is that unlike some other repeaters, the receiver part is hard-wired and is only 1 meter long. Based on some other descriptions, I thought I could just buy an extension but this is not the case since its hard-wired. For a lot of installations this would be ok because the 4 dual emmitter bulbs are fairly long (three at 2 meters, and one at 4 meters long).
For my installation, the equipment is in a closet, so I needed to extend the receiver by about 12 feet by using my almost non-existent soldering skills. I just cut the receiver wire, and soldered in an extension. Obviously, test your equipment before you start cutting any wires!!
I control a HD Cable Box, Blue Ray Player, HDMI switcher, and Onkyo Receiver.... (with room to grow) without any issues. It just works. I expect this to work for a long time since there are very few components to fail. This replaces a nextgen repeater which I really liked, but became too unreliable over time.
I called Sewell tech support before I purchased. They told me it works exactly the same as the larger units and has a dual frequency receiver, so it should work with newer devices as well.
